A lot of companies have a policy of encashment of leaves, wherein you don't take the leave and get the monetary benefit instead.

In my opinion, this is not the most productive thing to do for the employee. Though money matters and we do get a salary for that, but equally important is time out. Time out with family, for vacations, visiting old parents, visiting relatives and friends is something that refreshes us and helps us relax and rejuvenate. Hence, in my opinion instead of encashment of leaves, companies should make atleast 1 week of mandatory leave (which cannot be encashed).

In the long run, taking a break will turn out to be more productive than some extra cash that you earn by encashment of leaves.
